The Rev. Sarah Hess

I'm Pastor Sarah, and I serve as the Pastor for Communications at Trinity Ecumenical Parish. Though I work remotely from Staunton, VA, you’ll still hear my voice through our communications, even if you don’t see me on Sunday mornings.

I met my husband, Daniel, while serving as summer camp counselors at Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp, and together we discerned a call to ministry. We both graduated from United Lutheran Seminary in Gettysburg, PA, in December 2019.

I hold a B.S. in Sociology from James Madison University and an M.Div. from United Lutheran Seminary. My ministry journey has included roles in youth, parish, and communications work, all shaped by a love of storytelling and connection.

Daniel and I are parents to two wonderful boys, Samuel and Liam, and we’re soaking up every minute of the beautiful chaos that comes with raising them. Those who know me appreciate my warmth, creativity, and collaborative spirit.

In my free time, you’ll likely find me cheering on the JMU Dukes in purple, chasing our boys with coffee in hand, or spending time with our rescue pup, Luna.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science, Sociology, James Madison University (Harrisonburg, VA)
